L'APÉRO

October 2021

L'APÉRO - October 2021

'Design at 1200°C I L'apéro' - starts with a live performance held during the Barcelona Design Week '21. Guided by drawings of designers Sanna Völker and Alejandra Perini, glass artisan Pròsper Riba blew unique glass pieces at 1200ºC.

The first series of prototypes, all inspired by the traditional forms of the aperitive ambient, were being crafted live in front of the audience. The ‘L'apéro Collection’ is made from recycled glass from the automobile industry.

“This moment of trial and error usually happens behind closed doors. We wanted to share that moment with the public, to make the craft and design process more accessible. When people see the amount of time and effort that is being put into making a glass object, it often changes their perception of the final object. We also wanted to make people feel that they were being part of the creation of these objects, for them to feel the joy, tension and magic that blown glass is about.”
